A widow is a woman who has lost her husband, and orphans are children whose parents, for whatever reason, are not in the child’s life. The Bible reveals God’s attitude toward orphans and widows: He cares very deeply for them. God commands us to protect and care for orphans and widows (Psalm 82:3).
God commands us to care for orphans and widows. When He gave the Law to Moses and the Israelites, He gave instructions for how to treat the orphans and widows among them (see Exodus 22:22–23). In the New Testament, James says that taking care of the needs of orphans and widows is part of religion “pure and faultless” (James 1:27). Caring for those in distress is not optional for followers of Christ.
In India in every two homes there is a widow. All these widows need comfort, mental support, spiritual counselling and humanitarian help. Our passion is to give them the needed hope and comfort through Jesus. Sympathy is no substitute for action. So Jesus Mission is showing God’s love through action. Our widows care programme is comforting and strengthening these widows. Every year during Christmas seasons we gather nearly 350-400 widows, share with them the good news about the birth of Jesus Christ , give them new cloths and food as Christmas gift through our widows care programme.
